1991 Yamaha blaster 200cc?

I have a 1991 yamaha blaster that i just got today. and when i bought it the guy told me the clutch was new but not put in right so it will run and idle all day but when i pull the clutch in a put it in first and then let the clutch out it just idles still.? any ideas or can someone please help me to install it right?
