Can i charge my teacher with Slander?

My English teacher is lying to my parents and telling them i said things like " all i ever talk about in cl is wanting to get drunk on weekends" and "ill get away with plagiarism" "i dont care about the course" HELP! i want to pursue legal action but i want to know what my options are...... these statements have made my parents furious with me and i cant get them to believe that they are untrue..... is this a form of slander?
