What makes Harvey's character change in the dark knight?

think its probably cuz he's pissed about Rachel(think thats the correct character name)'s death, The Joker pushes him over the edge when he discovers that the police task force that he worked with to put criminals away couldn't be relied on to save her. Also there was dirty cops too. Something along that line, probably more to it than that
