Decorate to your choosing, what is pleasing to you. A good move going to the darker gravel. I prefer to go to with a biotope type tank (not very strict biotope), that is fish, plants, decor from the same region of the world. Some live plants are very hardy and look more natural than plastic. A nice set up could be a couple small java ferns attached to some driftwood, along with some clumps of java moss attached to pieces of wood or smooth medium size rocks. Add about a half dozen cherry barbs and this would make a nice "asian" region tank.
